The Explorer Section is a group of 14-18 year old's made up of both those who have come through the group's Beaver, Cub and Scout sections as well as those who have come into scouting more recently. During the winter months the Explorers run a varied and exciting programme, this term we have held a ready-steady-cook night, a fashion show with outfits made with recycled rubbish and our traditional movie and pizza night. Our 2009 summer expedition was a week in Bergen-Op-Zoom in Holland, along with members of the Scout Troop.
Alongside these activities there is also a large part of the programme taken up with working towards diamond and platinum awards and nautical skills. October to March is a fantastic opportunity to work on the service, theory and planning elements of these awards at our HQ in Stoneleigh, so that when the summer comes round Explorers can put what they have learnt into practice on the water based at our Boat House in Thames Ditton.
