About us

Royal Yachting Association approved trainingRoyal Yachting Association approved training centre centre

The Warspite and Ajax RYA centre started life in 1986. Warspite gained recognition as an RYA training centre, and this developed into an alliance with Ajax in the early 90s and the current format of the training centre emerged.

We hold recognition both in Surrey and at Cobnor (our tidal centre near Chichester) and can teach and grant certificates up to level 3 in dinghy and keelboat and also up to advanced powerboat. As all scout qualifications are based on national governing body certificates and as the awards gained are recognised throughout the world, it is particularly useful to be able to achieve this in-house.

To become an RYA teaching centre ensures a high standard of training and this is unusual for a scout group to reach this level, especially at two centres. If you wish to learn more please have a look at www.rya.org.uk or e-mail:
